What The Halloween Date Change Petition Argues
The petition argues that if Halloween is held on the last Saturday the celebration will be longer, safer and stress free.
Others feel that having the celebrations scheduled for Saturday would reduce the amount of productive time lost compared to holding the celebrations during any of the business days.

Why Is Halloween On October 31st?
In the 8th century, Pope Gregory III declared November 1st as a day to honor saints, and the preceding day, October 31st, was the day when people dressed in costumes and practiced other rituals to wade off evil spirits. This day eventually became the modern day “Halloween”, October 31st.
